creating Calmer, happier families

Parenting, Mindfulness, New Learning and Yoga

Our children did not arrive with an instruction manual!

Maybe you want to raise your children differently or have a different relationship to the one you had with your parents.

Most of us parent the same way that we ourselves were parented. We go into “automatic” mode and become our parents unless we stop and reflect and become fully present with your child, even at their “worst” moments.

The world has become more stressful for adults and children. Sometimes our kids need to develop extra skills and strategies to help them manage their anxious feelings. This can be achieved through specific teaching and through yoga.

Let me know how I can help you create a calmer, happier family.

What Is Mindfulness?

Jon Kabat-Zinn (2002) describes mindfulness as a way of “paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally”.

Mindfulness is about being fully present in the moment without getting caught up in your thoughts.

We can do this by paying close attention to our breath or by tuning into our senses - what we can see, hear, smell, taste and feel in and on our bodies.

Thich Nhat Hanh states that “Mindfulness shows us what is happening in our bodies, our emotions, our minds, and in the world. Through mindfulness, we avoid harming ourselves and others”.

”The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers”
