Peaceful Kids program

Peaceful Kids is a Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based program to lessen anxiety and stress, and to increase resilience in children.

The program has been created to offer anxious children a developmentally appropriate program to give them the skills, practice and support to utilise coping strategies that lessen the symptoms of anxiety and stress.

This program helps children to build their emotional resilience so that they are better equipped to deal with the day to day stresses that life brings them.

The program also involves parent or carer involvement and commitment to supporting the strategies at home

Program Structure:

Peaceful Kids is is an 8-week program for a small group of primary or secondary aged children ( 4 to 6 kids only.)

Each session is approximately 1 hour and include learning a range of coping strategies, problem solving as well as mindfulness activities, meditations and positive psychology exercises.

Mindfulness and Stress

Research shows that after only an 8-week course of Mindfulness the amygdala (the brain’s fight or flight centre) is actually smaller. The amygdala is the primal part of the bin which is associated with fear and emotion, and forms a part of the body’s response to stress. This exciting research also shows that as the amygdala shrinks, the pre-frontal cortex grows thicker. This part of the brain helps with concentration, decision making and awareness.
